Vacuum Sales, Service and Restoration under One Bench

GREATVACS, L.L.C. runs one clinic for shop vacs, canisters, uprights and central systems at 138 E 12300 S Unit 885, Draper - 84020-7976, United States (US). Six services sit on the wall, and each one has a defined bench stage, a parts shelf and a suction target. What follows is a full account of each line and how it runs.

Each Job on the Log, Explained

These are the work orders we carry every week. The job codes match the intake desk and the gauge stamps match the suction target for each line.

Vacuum Sales and Fitting

A vacuum is a tool matched to a home, and a poor match fails no matter how good the machine is. We open every sales conversation with the layout of the house: how much carpet meets how much hard floor, whether there are pets that shed, how many storeys the machine must climb and how far a hose has to reach. Airflow, filtration class and hose length follow from those answers rather than from a price point.

Once a model is chosen we assemble it at the counter, weigh it in the buyer hand and run it on our gauge before it leaves. Buyers see how the bag seats, how the filter locks and how the hose collar engages, so the first run at home is not a first lesson. Where a portable machine will not cover the plan, we move the same conversation toward a central system and a walk of the pipe route.

We stock shop vacs for work sites, canisters for whole-floor cleaning, uprights for carpet-heavy rooms and central systems for houses that want the motor out of the living space. Every sale ends with a demonstration and a note of the model, so future bags and filters are matched exactly.

Repair and Tune-Up Service

Repair begins with measurement. We read suction at the hose and current at the motor, then open the air path to find where the loss occurs. A tune-up covers the parts that wear together: the belt, the brush roll and its bearings, the hose collar, the motor brushes where they are serviceable, and every gasket that has flattened with age. Weak suction is traced to a named cause instead of being blamed on a full bag.

Repairs are quoted before work starts. Common parts sit on the wall, and the unusual ones are ordered by model with an honest lead time. A machine is never released until it passes the same gauge test it failed at intake, which is the check that protects every other promise on this page.

We service shop vacs caked from job sites, canisters with torn bags and whistling seals, uprights with wrapped brush rolls and central power units that have lost their pull. Whatever the machine, the bench process is identical: diagnose, quote, repair, retest.

Restoration of Classic Machines

Some vacuums were engineered to be repaired, and their owners know exactly what they have. Restoration takes a machine down to bare frame: the motor housing is cleaned and reseated, the cord and switch are renewed, the bag chamber is rebuilt and the shell is refinished without erasing its age. Period-correct hardware is used where it can be found and honest modern equivalents where it cannot.

This is the slowest line on the log and the one that surprises owners most. A restored classic frequently out-suctions a new lightweight unit, because the original was designed around real airflow. Each restoration closes with a written account of everything replaced and everything deliberately left original, so the machine keeps both its performance and its history.

We restore canisters, uprights and older shop machines. Where a part no longer exists, we machine or adapt a sound equivalent and note it on the ticket. The gauge test at the end is the same one every other machine faces.

Bag and Filter Supply

The quickest way to weaken any vacuum is to fit the wrong bag or to keep a filter long past the point where it passes air. We stock bags, belts and filters across the makes we service, and we match by model rather than by appearance. Households that need fine-particle capture receive a HEPA filter; households that do not are given a standard filter and told why.

Owners can bring a machine to the counter for a fit check or send the model number and receive a matched set. We also show how a bag collar seats correctly, because a folded collar is the most common cause of a canister that seems to lose power overnight.

Filter supply is not a sales push. It is the cheapest maintenance a vacuum owner can buy, and we treat it that way, stocking the sizes that actually fail rather than the ones that photograph well.

Central Vac Service Calls

A central system fails somewhere between the inlet and the collection can, which is why it needs a field call rather than a bench drop. We test the power unit, check the can and filter, then walk the runs to find clogs, loose inlets and tired hose contacts. Low suction at a single wall port usually points to a blockage or a seal at that port rather than to the motor.

We also fit inlet faceplates, hoses and tool kits for systems already installed in a house. Where a run was never balanced, we note it and quote a correction. Field work is scheduled so that one visit covers the motor, the can and the full run, rather than three separate trips.

Central systems reward maintenance more than any other machine we see, because a clogged run quietly starves the motor for years. A single service call that clears a run and reseats the inlets often restores performance the household assumed was gone for good.

Trade-In and Consignment

A working vacuum that no longer suits a household still has value on our floor. Trade-in gives credit against a new or restored machine once we have tested the unit and confirmed its condition. Consignment places a sound machine with us so it can be sold to someone who needs exactly that model, with the bench test written on the tag.

Either path keeps usable equipment in service and out of a landfill. We are direct about condition, because a trade is fair only when both sides know what the machine does under load. Every trade and consignment unit is gauge-tested before it is listed.

Owners moving house, downsizing or upgrading to a central system bring us the machines they no longer need. We assess honestly, list clearly and pass the machine on to a buyer who will use it, which is the outcome the clinic was built for.

Process Overview

How Every Service Runs from Door to Gauge

Whatever the job code, a machine follows the same path. A repair that skips a stage is a repair that comes back.

01

Intake and Logging

The owner describes the symptom and we record the model, age and reported behaviour. The machine receives a job ticket before any work begins.

02

Bench Diagnosis

Suction is measured, current is checked and the air path is opened. The finding is written onto the ticket before a single part is ordered.

03

Quote and Approval

The owner receives a clear quote covering parts and labour. Restoration and central system work are quoted after diagnosis, never before.

04

Repair and Rebuild

Seals, belts, bearings, cords and brushes are renewed as needed. Bag chambers are cleaned and housings reseated before the machine closes up.

05

Suction Test

The unit runs on the gauge against its class target. If a machine does not pass, it does not leave the clinic.

06

Collection and Notes

The owner collects the machine with a written summary of what was found, what was replaced and what to watch next.

Ready When You Are

Bring the Machine, or Bring the Model Number

Drop a vacuum at the counter or send the model details for a matched bag and filter set. Either way, the bench is running and the gauge is on.
